How We Work

Every song has a direction it wants to go.

My role as a producer is to help uncover that direction and bring it to life in the most honest and compelling way possible.

Rather than imposing a sound or chasing trends, the focus is on understanding what the song is truly trying to say and shaping the production around that core idea.

Great records are rarely about doing more.

They come from understanding what the song is truly asking for.

The process is collaborative, insightful, a lot of fun and always centred around the music itself.

What Happens in a Session

Sessions usually begin by closely listening to the song and exploring its intention. We talk about the story behind the music, the emotional centre of the track and the direction it naturally wants to move in.

From there we begin developing the writing, production, arrangement and sonic direction that best serves the song.

Depending on the stage of the track, this might involve:

• refining the songwriting and structure

• uncovering and building the sonic identity of the record

• shaping the instrumentation and production

• developing the lyrical content, ideas and themes

• recording editing and mixing vocals or instruments

• working closely together to draw out the strongest vocal performance

• preparing the track for mixing and mastering

The aim is always to bring the song into sharper focus and guide it toward its strongest possible form.

Session Types

Writing & Song Development

Work together to strengthen the core of the song by refining structure, melody, lyrics and emotional impact so the track communicates exactly what it needs to.

Production

Develop the full production of your song from the ground up or from an existing demo. Together we shape the arrangement, instrumentation and sonic direction to bring the track fully to life.

Vocal Recording & Production

Capture the strongest possible vocal performance in a focused and creative recording environment. This includes vocal coaching and performance guidance during the session, along with editing and production to ensure the vocal sits naturally and powerfully within the track.

Mixing & Mastering

For songs where the writing and production are complete and the record is ready for its final stage. The focus is on achieving clarity, depth and balance in the mix, with the mastering ensuring it translates seamlessly across all listening platforms.

Mentoring & Artist Development

One-on-one sessions for artists and producers who want to develop their skills in production, songwriting, recording or mixing. These sessions can focus on specific technical challenges, creative challenges, building stronger workflows, or gaining deeper insight into the craft of making records.

Introductory Session

To make it easier for new artists to explore working together, the first session is offered at 50% off.

This initial session is an opportunity to dive into a song, explore its direction, and get a feel for how I work in the studio, including the process and creative workflow, the pace, and to see whether it feels like a good fit.

Many artists find that even a single session brings clarity, momentum and a clearer sense of where the song wants to go.
